For quicker results, bookmark some custom race playlists on the Social Club, so you can go from one to another without voting without getting distracted into an air race, mission, death match, etc. Most people pick up on the trading-wins thing pretty quickly. If you're racing against a single low-level player, go easy on them the first time (don't win by a huge gap), hit replay, let them win one, and go from there.
Find a few, bookmark them, race them on your own so you know the layout, then start sending out invites.
Even if people don't win, they like to try those out. I got quite a few wins by bookmarking some custom stunt races - the more click-bait-y the title, the better: INSANE JUMPS or BIGGEST RAMP, etc. Some alternative ideas to the booooring and low paying "Criminal Records" race:
